The measurement of vehicle exhaust particulate number (PN) emissions has become increasingly important across several European countries. This testing is now being introduced into Periodic Technical Inspection (PTI) regulations, starting with countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
To meet these requirements, advanced charge-based sensing technologies like Diffusion Charging (DC) are widely used for accurate particulate number analysis. These technologies allow precise measurement of ultra-fine particles emitted by modern engines.
Advanced Particle Measurement Technology
NP 01 is TEXA’s first next-generation instrument specifically developed to measure particulate number concentration in motor vehicle exhaust emissions. While it is not a traditional car scanner or engine scanner, NP 01 works alongside a multi brand scanner, multi brand diagnostic scanner, and automotive scanner to support comprehensive emission diagnostics.
The device measures particles in the size range of 23 to 200 nanometers, using a highly efficient diffusion charging sensor. This makes NP 01 suitable for testing modern vehicles, including gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, as part of an advanced engine diagnostic tool and emission testing workflow.
User-Friendly Design and Automotive Diagnostic Software Integration
NP 01 features an integrated touchscreen display that allows fast and intuitive operation by technicians. The built-in Wi-Fi interface enables wireless communication with visualization and reporting software, ensuring smooth integration with existing automotive diagnostic software systems.
The instrument has been developed in full compliance with Dutch N-PTI regulations and German PTB-A 12.16 technical specifications, making it suitable for official inspection centers and professional testing environments. It can also be easily integrated into an existing PTI inspection line.
